You've crossed paths
You were both in Lisbon
June 13 – 15, 2024 · same neighborhood, same days

How it works

It only takes a moment.

Step 1

Meet in person

Bumpd only works face to face. No feeds, no strangers.

Step 2

Scan each other

One phone shows a code, the other scans it. That's the bump.

Step 3

See where you crossed

Same neighborhood, same days, maybe years ago. Or today is your first.

Why Bumpd

Social media for people who'd rather be out.

We got very good at scrolling past each other. Bumpd only works when you're standing next to someone, and it finds the part of your story you didn't know you already shared.

Private by design

Your photos never leave your phone.

Bumpd reads where and when your photos were taken right on your iPhone, then shares only a neighborhood-sized area and a date. Never a photo, never your exact spot, never the time of day.

Questions

Good to know.

How does Bumpd know we crossed paths?

Your phone looks at where and when your photos were taken, and turns each one into a neighborhood-sized area and a date. That's all it shares. When you bump with someone, Bumpd compares the two lists and shows where they overlap: the same neighborhood within about a day, or the same wider area within about a week.

What if we've never crossed paths?

Then today is your first. Bumpd remembers where you met, and if you both switch it on, lets you know when you're in the same city again.

Does Bumpd track my location?

Only if you allow it, and only coarsely. Bumpd uses iPhone's low-power location updates to keep your history going, turned into the same neighborhood-and-date format before anything leaves your phone. Ghost mode lets you go dark whenever you like.

Why is Bumpd invite-only?

Bumpd only works with people you actually meet, so it grows the same way: in person. Every member gets three invites. If you know someone on Bumpd, ask them. Otherwise, join the waitlist.
